The Phase One Project of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital Haizhu Bay Branch kicked off with an opening ceremony on Sept 4.
Located in Haizhu Innovation Bay, the project covers a total area of 72,766 square meters and is planned to accomodate 1,500 beds. It is designed according to two-star green building standards.

The Phase One Project primarily includes medical functional buildings, spanning a total construction area of 238,120 sq m. This phase is divided into above-ground and underground sections, featuring facilities such as the comprehensive medical center and fever clinics.
The Phase Two Project will focus on constructing research, teaching, and administrative buildings, along with basements and enhanced supporting facilities covering approximately 116,000 sq m. Established in 1835, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital boasts nearly 190 years of history and is the birthplace of Western medicine hospitals in China, playing a pivotal role in advancing Chinese Western medicine and education.
The development of the Haizhu Bay Branch marks a significant milestone for the hospital, aiming to establish a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital specializing in oncology. It will serve as a national regional medical center for the diagnosis and treatment of acute diseases, and a public health emergency response center. The hospital aspires to become a research-oriented institution with high clinical standards and robust research capabilities.
