The economic performance of Haizhu district in the first half of 2024 has been revealed, demonstrating strong development momentum.
The regional GDP reached 132.78 billion yuan ($18.37 billion), a year-on-year increase of 6.5 percent, while the value added of the primary industry grew by 37.6 percent, the secondary industry by 9.0 percent, and the tertiary industry by 5.9 percent.
The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fisheries increased by 35.1 percent, with agricultural output value decreasing by 13.4 percent and fisheries output value increasing by 57.4 percent.
The enterprises above designated size (main business revenue above 20 million yuan) grew by 14.4 percent, with all sectors achieving double-digit growth. The gas production and supply industry played a significant role in industrial growth.
The operating income of service industries increased by 28.8 percent, with the digital economy flourishing and greatly contributing to the growth of the new-generation information technology service industry. The consumer market remained stable, significant progress was made in commercial district construction, and new consumption upgrades were evident.
Fixed asset investment remained stable and saw an improvement in quality, while there was a significant increase in investment in major project construction.
Foreign trade continued to improve, with total import and export volume increasing by 7 percent. Fiscal revenues achieved solid growth, while budget expenditures slightly decreased.
