On May 12, the preliminary round of the 6th Haizhu Wetland Dragon Boat Racing Event was held at Haizhu Wetland.

Dragon Boat Racing is unsurprisingly one of the most important folk activities for the annual Dragon Boat Festival. With 36 teams competing on the water in Haizhu, they showcased the spirit of unity and perseverance.

Haizhu Wetland, with 39 tributaries connected to the Pearl River, provided a stunning backdrop for this year's races. The competition has now been expanded in scale, creating a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere.

The preliminary round attracted 36 teams from Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan and Dongguan, including the champions from the 2023 Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitational. The competition showcased teamwork and a competitive spirit, reaching a new climax of intensity during the finals that afternoon and providing the audience with a visual feast.

Ultimately, 12 teams emerged victorious, thus qualifying to compete in the 2024 Haizhu Wetland Dragon Boat Racing Event.

Haizhu Wetland will also host a series of dragon boat intangible cultural heritage activities, such as a Dragon Boat Feast and Scenic Exploration, continuing the inheritance and promotion of dragon boat culture.
