The Nansha to Zhuhai (Zhongshan) intercity railway is progressing smoothly and will be connected to the Guangzhou Metro in the future.

Until now, the civil engineering work for the Guangzhou section has reached 25 percent completion, with construction underway for three stations and three sections.

Once completed, the project will integrate with the Guangzhou Metro Line 18, the Guangzhou East to Huadu Intercity Railway, and the Fangcun Village to Baiyun Airport Intercity Railway. In the long term, it will also connect with the South Shenzhen to Zhongshan Intercity Railway, providing convenient transportation for Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen residents.

The project is divided into east and west sections. The westbound section leads to Zhongshan, while the eastbound section connects to Zhuhai. The currently under-construction westbound section has a mainline length of 47.6 kilometers, with 19.1 km in the Guangzhou section and 28.5 km in the Zhongshan section, designed for a maximum speed of 160 km per hour.

The completion of the railway will provide a more convenient and practical transportation option for residents on both sides of the Pearl River, contributing to the urban economic development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
