The kapok tree has long been hailed as the "hero tree," symbolizing the spirit of advancing bravely and fearlessly facing hardships, reflecting the character of the people of Lingnan area.

The Guangzhou Liberation Memorial stands in Haizhu Square, witnessing Guangzhou's victorious liberation and magnificent transformation.

In 2023, Haizhu Square became one of the eight major red-themed attractions in the Yuexiu district and hosted the "Hero Flower Blooms in the Hero City" series of cultural events. The activities attracted numerous citizens, and the "Thousand People Painting Hero Flowers" event received particular attention.

In March of this year, Haizhu Square is poised to host the 2024 Guangzhou series of events promoting and carrying forward red culture.
