The "Haizhu Wetland Biodiversity Protection and Restoration Integrated Design and Construction" project, contracted by the Guangzhou Garden Construction Group, has been honored with the 2023 China Landscape Architecture Society Scientific and Technological Award.
The main focus of this project is Haizhu Wetland, which is located on the new central axis of Guangzhou city. It is a semi-natural fruit forest developed based on urban lakes and river wetlands in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, nurturing the ancient Lingnan fruit tree agricultural heritage, the Duoji Fruit Forest Wetland, which has a history of nearly a thousand years. Referred to as a ten-thousand-mu (666.67 hectares) fruit orchard, it is Lingnan fruits' birthplace and important genetic repository.

The wetland is located on the East Asia-Australia flyway, one of the world's eight major bird migration routes, serving as an essential haven and replenishment station for numerous long-distance migratory birds, highlighting the significance of this project.
This award is a national-level recognition and the only comprehensive national award in the field of landscape architecture in China.
The project proposes three major innovative highlights, including creating a new ecological chain, constructing habitats based on waterfowl behavior patterns, and using recyclable and regenerative ecological technologies to address wetland issues.
