The Haizhu Ecological Protection Dispute Resolution Center, the first professional mediation platform in the field of environment protection in Guangdong province, was established at Haizhu Wetland Park on Jan 15.
Haizhu district boasts the world's largest urban central wetland, the Haizhu Wetland, serving as the only ecological island in Guangzhou's central urban area, integrating rivers, streams, forests, fields, and lakes.
The center has adopted a strategy centered around "a century-old urban central wetland + a century-old tree-lined avenue + 10 high-quality zones," forming three new approaches to wetland management: sharing, integration, and ecological protection.
To address ecological and environmental contradictions, Haizhu district is exploring new approaches and methods to promote diversified resolution of ecological protection disputes, focusing on addressing issues that harm the development of environmental resources.
The center has gathered various dispute resolution forces, including people, administrative, judicial, industry-specific professional, and lawyer mediation, becoming the first professional mediation platform in Guangdong province dedicated to environment protection.
It has established a coordinated mechanism, promoting the platform's effective operation and long-term development through a comprehensive institutional system, constructing a mutual benefit situation where individual cases achieve a significant environmental impact.
