Haizhu Library awards national 1st-class library status

The Haizhu Library in Guangzhou was recently recognized as a national first-class library.

The library offers completely free services and operates for 84 hours per week. With an annual book borrowing and visitor count exceeding one million, it ranks among the top libraries in the city in terms of service indicators.

Currently, the Haizhu Library consists of two buildings with an area of over 10,000 square meters. It provides 1,410 reading seats and 113 computers, with 100 percent wireless network coverage, realizing information and intelligent management.

The library has established branch libraries and service outlets, including the Qiaojian Branch Library. The total number of branch libraries has reached 53, with an additional area of 21,000 sq m. It has achieved a unified borrowing and returning system with all public libraries in the city.

The Haizhu Library promotes reading and has developed multiple children's activity brands, attracting many readers. Several activity brands have been awarded as excellent cases by the China Library Association and Guangdong Library. Each year, the library organizes over 1,100 online and offline activities, such as lectures and exhibitions, serving more than 300,000 readers.

In the future, the Haizhu Library will continue its efforts to create a public library service system with abundant and fully circulated resources, complementary sharing, and coverage throughout the entire district.
