Guangzhou's autonomous bus was launched in Guangzhou on Dec 30. Citizens can ride the buses without making reservations and pay for the fares through swiping the Yangchengtong card.

Five convenient routes are available for selection, including the Canton Tower route, Pazhou Loop, Biological Island Line 1, Biological Island Line 2, and the Yongjingwan Convenience Line.

The trial operation of autonomous buses has been opened between Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Xiayuan Station and BRT Wenyuan Station, as well as the night service of autonomous buses on Biological Island Line 1 and Biological Island Line 2.

This is the country's first large-scale demonstration application of autonomous buses, and Guangzhou Bus Group has obtained the qualification to charge fees for the demonstration application.

Passengers riding the autonomous buses must follow the regulations of one person per seat, and no standing is allowed. Minors are allowed to ride when accompanied by a guardian.

The autonomous buses are equipped with the autonomous driving full-stack software and hardware solution from Wenyuan Zhixing. The vehicles can reach a maximum speed of 40 kilometers per hour and operate safely, stably, and environmentally friendly in various urban road and congestion scenarios.
