The introduction of the "One-Meter Garden" concept in the Xingyuan community of Guangzhou's Haizhu district has empowered residents to independently plant and care for plants, transforming the space into a productive, educational, and recreational area.

Through the collaborative efforts of residents, the garden's facilities and flower boxes have been improved, fostering a more tight-knit community. The shared community gardens have emerged as a standout feature in Guangzhou city.

The Xingyuan Community, established in the 1980s, previously faced issues such as waterlogging and mosquito infestations due to a vacant and neglected area. To make full use of this space, the community conducted extensive research and decided to develop a shared garden. The "One-Meter Garden" concept emerged, becoming a green space where community residents and children could collaborate.

During the implementation process, professionals provided scientific advice, while community members brainstormed ideas, and community staff also participated in the garden's construction. Community governance gradually flourished along with the garden.

Today, community residents often gather in the One-Meter Garden to chat and do leisure activities. The community also organizes events that involve people of different ages, which fosters harmonious relationships and maintains the garden.
