The first original Cantonese drama produced by the Haizhu district government, titled "There's a Painter Named Ju Lian", is set to be broadcast on Macao TV on Dec 21.
Unlike previous historical figure dramas, this drama stands out as it focuses on targeting overseas and online audiences.
The protagonist of the drama, Ju Lian, is the founder of the Lingnan School of Painting. He took up residence on Huaide Street in Haizhu district over a hundred years ago.

He was one of the few prolific painters in the late Qing Dynasty (1840-1911) in Guangdong and widely recruited apprentices, pioneering modern art education. The Lingnan School of Painting had a profound influence on future generations.
By utilizing a situational action drama format, exaggerated opera styles, and humorous Cantonese dialogue, this drama allows the audience to experience the charm of Guangdong during the late Qing Dynasty.
