To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, Beijing hosted a Cultural Figures Art Exhibition. The sculpture "Kiss" by Xu Hongfei was the only artwork selected in Guangdong province.

Xu emphasized the communicative value of art in the Belt and Road Initiative, as art promotes exchanges. He explained that "Kiss" conveys the most basic human emotion - love. This sculpture has traveled to 29 countries and over 40 cities worldwide.
Xu also discussed his connection with Haizhu district. He mentioned that his well-known "Chubby Women" art series was created in Haizhu district. The plump and adorable "Chubby Women" have become a distinctive artistic symbol for Xu, conveying joy and happiness. He states that the vibrant atmosphere of Haizhu district continuously inspires him.

Xu's art is now featured in many iconic urban spaces throughout Guangzhou, such as Yuejiang Road, the Guangzhou Cultural Center, and the Guangzhou Art Museum.
