Guangzhou Metro Line 8's eastern extension will sonn add a new station - Longze Road Station. Construction on the route will commence by the end of the year and is scheduled to be open for service by the end of 2027.
The line will have a total of eight stations, including four interchange stations. Xinzhou and Fengpu Park stations are located in Haizhu district. The entire line will be underground, with an average distance of 2.2 kilometers between stations and a maximum speed of 80 km per hour.
Longze Road Station was added to the original plan during the feasibility study. This extension connects with the Lianhua Hub of the Foshan-Dongguan intercity and the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity, enhancing Guangzhou's position as a comprehensive gateway city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Additionally, the Line 8 east extension connects the districts of Haizhu, Panyu, and Huangpu, supporting the development of the Hualong area and the second central business district and improving cross-river transportation connections between the city center and Changzhou Island and Hualong area.
The line links several key development areas in Guangzhou's recent plans, including the Haizhu eco-city, Guangzhou international innovation city, and Huangpu Lingang business district, aiming to expand subway coverage and solve transportation issues for residents and commuters along the line while also relieving traffic congestion.
