Construction will start on the Guangzhou Science Museum, located on the south side of Canton Tower in the core area of the southern section of the new urban axis in Haizhu district, Guangzhou, on Nov 30. It is expected to be completed on Dec 18, 2027, with a total construction area of approximately 80,000 square meters.

It will feature an interactive experience and exhibition area, science cinema area, exhibition management area, business research area, and underground parking area.

It will be a platform for the dissemination of science and communication, where people can learn about science, as well as a landmark for science tourism. The Guangzhou Science Museum will adopt a "suspended city block" design scheme, inspired by Song dynasty (960-1279 AC) Ge kiln celadon, the Rubik's cube, and traditional Lingnan street alleys.

The museum is expected to further enhance the cultural soft power of Guangdong province and the city of Guangzhou.

The four major museums in Guangzhou include the Guangzhou Museum of Art, Guangzhou Museum, Guangzhou Cultural Center, and Guangzhou Science Museum, which represent an important part of Guangzhou culture and are cultural symbols of the city.
