On Nov 9, the Intellectual Property Protection and Application Cooperation Conference was held in the subdistrict of Pazhou, in Haizhu district of Guangzhou city, capital of South China's Guangdong province.

The event's aim was to promote the development of industrial innovation in the digital era, focusing on the protection and application of IP.
During the conference, officials from the Guangzhou Market Supervision Administration underlined the important role of intellectual property rights in stimulating innovation vitality. They said Haizhu district had competitive advantages in its digital economy industry and IP protection.
In recent years, Haizhu has actively promoted the layout of its digital economy industry, strengthened its IP protection – and established the Pazhou Exhibition and Digital Economy IP Protection Center –to promote cooperation between research institutions and digital economy enterprises, as well as to accelerate the transformation of scientific achievements.

During the project presentation, professors from the Zhongkai University of Agricultural and Engineering gave a briefing on  the modalities of high-value patent transformations, as well as project achievements. The university has cultivated more than 30 core patents in its patent pool and some of them have been transformed into applications with a direct commercial conversion worth more than 2 million yuan ($274,000).

Haizhu district has steadily promoted its premium development of IP in recent years, with some 13 patents from enterprises and institutions having won the China Patent Excellence Award, as well as eight patents recognized in the Guangdong Patent Gold Award and Excellence Award.
