The Fang Chuxiong and Lin Shuran Art Exhibition was held at the Shixiangyuan Memorial Hall in Haizhu district, Guangzhou on Nov 8 and will last until Dec 3. The exhibition showcased more than 80 artworks by Fang and Lin.

The exhibition is an important event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and has attracted the attention of many scholars, professors, and artists.

The exhibition is divided into two themes: "Elegance and Interests" and "Exotic Charms". The former showcases Fang and Lin's every day floral and bird artworks, while the latter displays their landscape paintings done abroad.

Fang is a successor of the Lingnan School of Painting, and his works feature the ancient tradition of expressing harmony between humans and nature.

Drawing on the century-old tradition of the Lingnan School of Painting, Fang and Lin have traveled to various scenic spots abroad, capturing the essence of different cultures and customs through their landscape paintings, and drawing inspiration from nature. Their success is attributed to the combination of traditional apprenticeship and modern academic teachings.

Haizhu district will continue to increase its efforts to develop calligraphy and painting art,and plans to build the Guangzhou Lingnan Academy based on the foundation of the Shixiangyuan Memorial Hall.
