Guangdong music, dance festival starts in Guangzhou

The 2023 Guangdong Civil Music and Dance Art Forms Festival officially opened on the evening of Nov 6 in Guangzhou – capital of South China's Guangdong province – with the extravaganza widely rated as being the largest, most comprehensive and influential mass cultural event in the region.

The festival organizers took seven months to choose the works that would feature in the event. It features 56 musical compositions and 45 dance compositions from various regions, with over 1,500 performers participating in a competition and in the exhibitions.

The event's finals will last for a week and include competitions, galas, performances for the public and charity activities.

Among over 1,000 entries, four works from Haizhu district of the city made it to the finals. These works showcase the happy lives of Guangzhou people and their aspirations for the future and have received many awards.

The festival will also hold more than 70 events for the benefit of the public. The activities will be livestreamed on multiple platforms, allowing people to enjoy the wonderful moments of the exhibition no matter where they are.
