The Haizhu Calligraphy and Painting Invitational Exhibition opened on Sept 15 in the Haizhu district of Guangzhou city - capital of South China's Guangdong province - and will run through to Oct 9.

The aim is to pass on traditional Chinese culture, promote the regional Lingnan art of calligraphy and painting and display Haizhu's own brand of calligraphy and painting.

The exhibition features a selection of 77 calligraphy and painting works on display at the Shixiangyuan Memorial Hall. The exhibited works have distinctive themes - focusing on the Lingnan flowers and birds and using colorful brushstrokes and vivid images to showcase the charm of the era.
