AI, digital economy shines in Pazhou pilot zone

The latest monthly issue of Pazhou π magazine was recently released and it tells the story of how enterprises in the Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone - located in the Haizhu district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong province - seized the opportunity to develop AI.

Zhang Xiang, executive vice president and secretary-general of the Guangdong Artificial Intelligence Industry Association, said that Pazhou had broad prospects and potential in the field of AI and was expected to become one of its leading regions in the future.

Guo Yi, the founder of Tujiang Data, is committed to applying AI image recognition to the retail industry there.

Zhang Sheng, the founder of Guangzhou Lingju Information Technology Company, aims to make the company a provider of more usable personal intelligent assistants. It is providing intelligent interaction services for the products of companies such as Huawei, Alibaba and Xiaomi.

In addition, Lin Tailai, vice president of Guangzhou ONTO Intelligent Drive Technology Company, said that the demand for self-driving taxis now far exceeded supply.

Currently, the zone has nurtured 210 technology-based small and medium-sized enterprises, 331 high-tech enterprises and 35 specialized, refined, characteristic and novel enterprises.

As of last year, a total of 22 unicorn or future unicorn companies had settled in the area. Unicorns are pre-IPO startups with at least $1 billion in market value.
