The revenue of the new-generation information technology service industry in Guangzhou's Haizhu district reached 27.56 billion yuan ($3.8 billion) in the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 22 percent.
The Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone achieved an operation revenue of 197.5 billion yuan in the first half of the year, with 2,153 newly-registered companies. Enterprises above the designated size engaged in core digital economy industries in the district generated an operation revenue of 44.43 billion yuan, a surge of 15 percent.

Chen Wenyuan, secretary-general of the Guangdong Provincial Game Industry Association, said that game companies choose Pazhou because of its advantages in the digital economy. Well-known companies such as internet and technology giant Tencent and online retailer Vipshop operate in the area, as they believe it offers strong development prospects.
The global headquarters building of 37 Interactive Entertainment has been capped. It is an effort to create a city landmark that combines digital virtual space and 24-hour open public space. Li Yifei, the founder of the company, said that they will continue to focus on high-quality development to make contributions to technological innovation.
Haizhu district is accelerating the layout of the new-generation artificial intelligence industry and launching a series of "eight ones" initiatives (a serious of support policies involving nine aspects) to promote the development of the "Pazhou Algorithm Valley". The valley was one of the 10 national e-commerce demonstration bases with outstanding comprehensive evaluation results in 2022.
In recent years, Pazhou has cultivated 30 provincial-level "specialized, refined, characteristic, and novel" enterprises, and nine high-tech enterprises have been included in the Guangzhou pre-IPO top 100 list. Since 2018, companies, universities, and research institutions in the Pazhou pilot zone have registered a total of 1,857 patents.
