Guangzhou recently rolled out measures to develop its night economy and promote itself as an international retail spending mecca.

In the wake of the initiative, the district of Haizhu in Guangzhou followed up with its own moves to develop its night economy.

Under the 18 measures, Guangzhou plans to establish 30 night markets. It will also establish some small night markets near social communities.

For its part, Haizhu will extend the operations hours of its night markets and simplify the application process for night market business permits.

Moreover, Haizhu will combine night markets with its local culture. It will launch a series of nighttime cultural and tourism routes, connecting night markets with famous tourist attractions.

The Jiangnan Cultural, Business and Tourism Integration Circle in the west of Haizhu has many Guangzhou specialty restaurants, which attract many people at night.
