Haizhu district is currently holding the 2023 Haizhu District Night Consumption Festival, which kicked off on July 28 and runs to Aug 31, in a bid to boost its night economy.

The main venue, the Meland Club, is hosting a series of fun activities, including a circus market, flea market and a beer festival.

Elsewhere, Wanda Plaza will host a market, camping and food festival, while R&F Plaza will hold night markets and themed activities.

In order to promote the night economy, from February to May, Haizhu hosted food and shopping festivals in Hesheng Square and R&F Plaza, including night markets.

These festivals brought various specialty cuisines from both domestic and international sources, catering to the diverse demands of locals.

Haizhu also released measures in July last year to accelerate the construction of an international consumption center city, to promote the development of the night economy.

Haizhu will give one-time grants of up to 500,000 yuan ($68,750) to newly rated national and provincial night culture and tourism consumption clusters.
