In the first half of the year, the Haizhu district generated 126 billion yuan ($18 billion) in GDP, up 8.2 percent year-on-year.
The total output value of industrial enterprises above the designed size (annual turnover of 20 million yuan) hit 42.7 billion yuan, an increase of 22.5 percent, ranking it first in Guangzhou.
The revenue from accommodation and the restaurant and catering sectors came in at 5.3 billion yuan, an increase of 24.3 percent year-on-year. The operating income generated by the new generation of the information technology services industry was 27.56 billion yuan, up 22 percent.
The output value of the construction industry totaled 43.18 billion yuan, higher by 6.4 percent year-on-year. The general public budget revenue was 2.9 billion yuan, an increase of 3.1 percent. In end-June, Haizhu was home to 202,600 business entities, up 3.2 percent, including 107,000 enterprises, an increase of 4.9 percent year-on-year.
Moreover, the added value of its primary industry was 55 million yuan, an improvement of 23.6 percent. The added value of the secondary industry was 26.931 billion yuan, up 22.6 percent year-on-year and the added value of the tertiary industry was 99.13 billion yuan, up 5.1 percent year-on-year.
During the same period, the GDP, fixed asset investment and domestic tax revenue of Haizhu increased by 8.2, 22.3 and 3.2 percent respectively.
Elsewhere, the total profit of industrial enterprises above the designed size in Haizhu reached 16.46 billion yuan, up 28.5 percent, an increase of 4.8 percentage points over the first quarter. The output value of the high-tech manufacturing industry increased by 12 percent in current prices, an increase of 20.2 percentage points over 2022.
The operating income of industrial enterprises above a designated size in the core industries of the digital economy reached 44.43 billion yuan, an increase of 15 percent during the half. Of these, the operating income of the new-generation information technology services industry above a designated size increased by 22 percent, achieving a growth of more than 20 percent for two consecutive quarters.

The 133rd China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Haizhu attracted 35,000 on-site exhibitors and over 2.9 million visitors. The exhibitions industry, travel agencies, advertising industry and accommodation and catering industry in the jurisdiction increased by 350 percent, 57.7 percent, 16.6 percent and 24.3 percent respectively.
In the first half of the year, the Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone completed an investment of 16.86 billion yuan, an increase of 22.6 percent on the previous same period and achieved an operating income of 19.75 billion yuan.

During the six months, Haizhu also implemented 11 measures to benefit enterprises and reportedly disbursed a total of 34.8 million yuan in incentives to 174 provincial-level specialized, refined, distinctive and new enterprises.
In the first half of the year, the district witnessed the addition of 11,200 new business entities, representing a growth rate of 7.6 percent year-on-year.
