Based on the economic data of buildings in Guangzhou in 2020 and 2021, the number of buildings with a tax revenue of 100 million yuan ($14 million) or higher in Haizhu district accounted for 22.5 percent of Guangzhou’s total, ranking the second in city.

As proposed in the industrial development plans of the Pazhou Internet innovation cluster area, which was issued by the Guangzhou municipal people's government, many business buildings such as Baodi Square were established in Pazhou.

At present, Pazhou's building economy is mainly driven by companies in the fields of technology, media, and telecom (TMT).

Of the enterprises that occupied Pazhou’s business buildings in 2022, TMT companies accounted for 65 percent, and consumer goods manufacturing accounted for 17 percent. The proportion of TMT companies related to the new generation information technology sector is nearly twice that of the city's average.

In 2022, Pazhou's net absorption of commercial buildings reached 129,500 square meters, accounting for 68 percent of Guangzhou's total. Net absorption in this case refers to the total area of occupied commercial space over a period of time. The main contributors to Pazhou’s net absorption were TMT at 54 percent, financial institutions at 42 percent, and special service companies at 19 percent.

In 2021, the average number of people employed per building in Guangzhou was 1,862, and the average number of people employed in Haizhu was 3,479, with a year-on-year growth of 52.19 percent.
