On April 15, Haizhu National Wetland Park held its fifth bird-watching contest, as well as the 2023 bird and plant identification contest for primary and middle school students in Haizhu. Guo found Citrine Wagtail at this activity.

In early April, Chen Shuhan, a student of Xiaogangwan Primary School in Haizhu district, found the 188th species of wetland bird, the Greater Painted-snipe, in the second phase of the Haizhu Wetland.
More than 280 students from 56 primary and secondary schools in Haizhu district participated in this activity.
Bu Biao, president of the Guangzhou Sunshine Bird Protection Association, said it was the first time anyone had spotted a new bird in the five bird-watching competitions in the Haizhu Wetland.
The signing and awarding ceremony between the Haizhu Wetland and Guangzhou Zoo was also held. In the future, the two sides will build a wetland wildlife protection and wild release demonstration base.
As of April 15, 2023, a total of 835 species of plants and 189 species of birds were recorded in the Haizhu Wetland.
