My General Information

Location: Located in the southern part of Guangzhou, I am adjacent to Liwan, Yuexiu and Tianhe districts across the river to the north. I am the only island district in the city surrounded by the Pearl River.

Population: By the end of 2022, I had a permanent resident population of 1.96 million. The registered population was 1.10 million, up 0.76 percent.

Social economy: In 2022, I achieved a GDP of 250.25 billion yuan ($36.40 billion), a year-on-year growth of 1.4 percent. The investment in fixed assets reached 47.8 billion yuan, up 14.8 percent, ranking first in the city.

Family members: I have 18 administrative sub-districts and 265 communities. The 18 administrative sub-districts are Chigang, Xingang, Changgang, Jiangnanzhong, Binjiang, Sushe, Haizhuang, Nanhuaxi, Longfeng, Shayuan, Nanshitou, Fengyang, Ruibao, Jianghai Pazhou, Nanzhou, Huazhou and Guanzhou.

Transportation in Haizhu

Haizhu has a convenient transportation system, and its transportation network extends in all directions, with 18 cross-river bridges, two cross-river tunnels, Metro lines 2, 3, 4, 8, 18, the Guangzhou-Foshan Line, and the APM Line and trams, connecting Haizhu Island with the north and south of Guangzhou.

The Pazhou Ferry Terminal is now open to the public. It takes two hours to reach Hong Kong or Macao from Pazhou, Haizhu.

Haizhu has hammered out its "10+1" industry and talent policy system, which involves cultivating chief service officers (CSOs)to provide precise services. You can apply online with one click, and your request will be processed and settled quickly. A closed-loop service of "policy introduction, door-to-door service, and reward mechanism" is available. The business environment here is warm and predictable.

The first practice base for Tsinghua University's candidates for professional master’s degree of digital economy in South China is located in Pazhou, Haizhu. Haizhu is promoting the digital economy ecosystem with industrial platforms and constructing a “pool” of high-end talents.

The Ecological Beauty of Haizhu

Haizhu has been promoting ecological development. There are 74 rivers flowing through the district and the proportion of rivers with category V water quality and above has increased from 56.7 percent in 2018 to 100 percent in 2022. The Haizhu Wetland is full of fish and birds, flowers and fruits, forming a river and island ecosystem that integrates rivers, lakes, gardens, and forests.

Waterside greenways including the Yuejiang Road Greenway, the Haizhu Wetland Greenway, the Daganwei Greenway and the Shiduigang River Greenway have been completed, extending for a total of 67.3 kilometers.

Haizhu's International Consumption Circle

In addition to the Canton Tower, which is the district's culture and tourism name card, Haizhu district also plans to build a world-class landmark business circle around the Canton Tower and Pazhou. It will also cultivate and expand five regional characteristic business circles: the area from Jiangnan Xilu to the Taikoo Warehouse; the area from Guangzhou Paper Mill to Lijiao; Binjiang area; SYSU area; and the Haizhu Wetland area.

The district is turning the area into an integrated circle of culture and commerce, giving the area a huge facelift.

Parks in Haizhu

People can enjoy green views right through their windows and easy access to parks close to their home in Haizhu district. It has eight municipal first-class parks; and two second-class. Zhoutouzui Park has now been upgraded to a smart park with 5G application equipment such as intelligent running tracks, smart seats, and screens displaying martial arts with the addition of AI.

Local public schools have sufficient capacity to fully enroll students in the area as the district has established seven education groups with 34 schools. Haizhu is on course to increasing more than 10,000 slots at high-quality schools at the compulsory education level.
