Haizhu National Wetland Park was rated as a national 4A tourist attraction on March 24 by Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province.

Up to now, Haizhu district has two national 4A tourist attractions and nine national 3A tourist attractions.

Located in the southern section of Guangzhou's central axis, Haizhu National Wetland Park has an area of approximately 1,100 hectares, 869 of which are included in China's National Wetland Conservation Action Plan.

As of January 2023, the proportion of wetlands in Haizhu National Wetland Park reached 79.4 percent. The number of bird species increased from 72 to 187, the number of insect species increased from 66 to 738, and the number of fish species increased from 36 to 64. Among the animal species that live in the park, one bird species is labeled as a first-class nationally protected bird, while 27 other bird species hold the title of second-class nationally protected birds, such as the swan goose, mandarin duck and thrush.

On Feb 2, Haizhu National Wetland Park was included in the list of Wetlands of International Importance.
