The new Guangzhou Art Museum is scheduled to open in 2023. Currently, more than 90 percent of the new Guangzhou Art Museum has been completed.

After it is finished, it will become one of the major cultural landmarks in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The new Guangzhou Art Museum is a national key art museum and a national first-class museum with abundant collections. It is located at the core of the new central axis of Guangzhou, with a construction area of 80,000 square meters.

The museum mainly includes a collection area, exhibition areas, a cultural education and public service area, a business research and management area, an equipment area, an underground parking garage, as well as a public area. Among them, the central rotunda of the art museum has a skylight to provide sufficient natural light for the internal public space. As the angle of sunlight changes, the light and shadow play one beautiful variation after another in the art museum.

It has also issued an official announcement on the collection of fine art works to all sectors of society, and sent an invitation to the national professional art organizations to collect works, with the collection time open until May 31.

The collection of art works covers Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, watercolor, gouache, lacquer painting, illustration, comic books, composite material painting, calligraphy, sculpture, photography, and other categories.

Priority will be given to important works of high historical, artistic, and scientific value that enrich the existing collection system. In recent years, the outstanding works of the most representative contemporary artists active in the field of fine arts, as well as the works of young and middle-aged artists with potential have been among the museum's focus.
