The Guangzhou development and reform commission has released a plan for key construction projects in 2023.

In 2023, there will be 800 key construction projects in Guangzhou, with an annual planned investment of 378.5 billion yuan ($55.1 billion). Among them, there are 647 formal projects, with an annual planned investment of 358.8 billion yuan, and 153 preparatory projects, with an annual investment plan of 19.7 billion yuan.

Among these projects, there are 223 formal infrastructure projects and 150 transportation projects covering rail transit, municipal roads and bridges, as well as transportation hubs and other projects. These projects in Haizhu include the Pazhou branch line of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Road, the Pearl River Tourism Quality Improvement Project, Haizhu Bay Tunnel, Yuzhu Tunnel, and the southern section of Dongxiao South Road-Guangzhou South Railway Station.

There are 360 key industrial projects in Guangzhou, and construction will continue on the Guangdong Media Building in Haizhu district, the IFlytek AI Building, as well as the Tencent Guangzhou headquarters building. Among the newly started projects, the China Telecom Southern Science Innovation Center project is located in Pazhou AH040165 block, covering an area of 6,324 square meters and a building area of 101,184 sq m. Upon completion, it is expected to be the largest science and technology innovation base of China Telecom in southern China.

The fourth phase of the Canton Fair Pavilion project will be completed this year. At present, the construction of the conference center and the command center is underway, while the whole pavilion is scheduled to be put into use in the second half of this year. The construction of the AH040157 block in Pazhou west area will continue to be accelerated.

This year, 12 of the 40 headquarters economic projects in Guangzhou are located in the Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone, including the China Communications Construction Group Southern Headquarters Base, Guangzhou International Cultural Center, Miniso International Headquarters, Guangzhou International Shipping Building, National Headquarters of Root Cloud, Sophia Global Development Center, Guangdong Port and Shipping Headquarters Economic Building, Fangsuo Culture Group Headquarter, as well as the Marumi Group Headquarters Building.

Pazhou Railway Station will open two intercity rail lines, as well as build a large-scale comprehensive hub and urban terminal. Upon completion, people will be able to travel from Pazhou Railway Station to Guangzhou South Railway Station in 10 minutes, Baiyun Airport in 20 minutes, as well as Hong Kong and Macao in two hours by boat.

The first phase of the Haizhu Bay Branch of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University began construction this year, while the construction of Haizhu District Women's and Children's Hospital continues. The Haizhu Bay Branch of Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University is being constructed in two phases. The first phase of the construction covers a construction area of 238,120 sq m. It will encompass a fever clinic, general clinic, emergency first aid facilities, medical technology infrastructure, logistics support facilities, parking, and 1,350 beds for patients.
