The HI CITY branch of Haizhu Library held the opening ceremony of the Yue book bar on Feb 10.

The Yue book bar is a new public cultural space brand created by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. It focuses on public reading service and art popularization, providing multiple services covering activities, exhibitions, and leisure.

Haizhu has built a Yue book bar in the Siyue, G+, and HI CITY branches of Haizhu Library.

Since its opening on Dec 18, 2021, the HI CITY branch of Haizhu Library has received nearly 60,000 readers, who have borrowed nearly 10,000 books. After undergoing upgrades in 2022, the area will be expanded from 500 square meters to 800 sq m, with a total collection of 20,000 books and 150 seats.

The library joins a new type of multicultural business through its book culture services, including book borrowing, cultural and creative exhibition sales, art curation, music, as well as comedy theater. In 2022, the library held a number of public cultural activities, including flower art, tea art, intangible cultural heritage item experiences, and reading clubs.

A singer competition organized by the Haizhu district cultural center was also held at Qiaojian Square from Feb 10 to 11.
