In 2023, a total of 399 transportation projects have been planned by the Guangzhou Transportation Bureau, with a total annual investment of 105.98 billion yuan ($15.63 billion), an increase of 21.7 percent from last year's investment of 87.05 billion yuan. Among them, many projects run through Haizhu district.

Metro Line 10 starts from Tianhe Station in the east and reaches Xilang Station in Liwan district in the west. The line runs northeast to southwest. It passes south of Haizhu, Wuyang New City, and Tianhe Sports Center, running through Haizhu, Tianhe, Yuexui, and Liwan districts.

Guangzhou Metro Line 11 is a circular line, passing through Haizhu, Tianhe, Baiyun, Yuexiu, and Liwan districts. It runs through the main urban area of Guangzhou, connecting with Guangzhou Railway Station and Guangzhou East Railway Station. To date, 86 percent of the civil construction works of Line 11 (Guangzhou Station-Pazhou-Guangzhou Station) have been completed.

The eastern extension of Metro Line 8 is about 18 kilometers long and is under construction. Upon completion, it will include seven new stations, namely Fengpu Park, Xinzhou, Changzhou, Zhanmao City, Hualong, Mengdi, and Lianhua stations. There are four interchange stations on the route, namely Xinzhou Station, Lianhua Station, Hualong Station, and Changzhou Station.

The Guangzhou section of the Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Line is 50.6 km long and is completely underground. The road section runs through Haizhu, Liwan, Huangpu, and Zengcheng districts. The total construction period is about five and a half years, and 13 stations will be set up.

The Haizhu Bay Tunnel, which is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2024, will shorten the drive from Guangzhou's central city to Guangzhou South Railway Station to 15 minutes.
