Haizhu held 2023 World Wetlands Day themed activities on Feb 4, including popular science exhibitions, science courses, and online quizzes.

The photo exhibition on Haizhu's wetland restoration achievements in the past 10 years showcased the district's ecological restoration work and the effectiveness of Haizhu wetland's ecological protection. By January 2023, the district's wetland rate reached 79.4 percent. The number of bird species increased 2.6 times from 72 to 187, and the number of insect species increased from 66 to 738.

From Feb 2 to 28, Haizhu National Wetland Park will continue to hold a natural science exhibition and open eight free public welfare courses, covering bird watching, plant viewing, and natural science, to invite people to visit, understand, and further their appreciation of the wetland.

These activities not only expand children's knowledge, but also allow them to get close to nature and experience the real outdoor environment in the city, said a citizen surnamed Zhan.
