The National Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced the list of the National Tourism Technology Demonstration Parks for 2022, and Guangzhou Tower Tourism Zone was among them, the only selected scenic spot in Guangdong province.

The Canton Tower tourist area, consisting of the Canton Tower and the golden water section of the Pearl River, offers a river-tower joint tour and a night tour of the Pearl River. It integrates urban sightseeing, catering, exhibitions, film and television entertainment, environmental protection science, cultural education, shopping and leisure and other multi-functional attractions.

As the tallest tourist tower in China and the third tallest in the world, Canton Tower has won more than 30 domestic and international architectural awards, including the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Awards, the Zhan Tianyou Award and the Gold Medal for China Building Structures. It is a landmark of the world's steel structure architecture of modern times and represents the highest level of China's architectural design and construction technology.

In the tower at 438.4 meters, there are two super large water tanks, shaped like a fish, which are an important part of the Guangzhou Tower vibration control system. They enable the tower to withstand 12 average typhoons and eight average earthquakes.

Hundreds of sensors are installed all over Canton Tower to monitor earthquakes, wind, temperature, and humidity. They synthesize and analyze the collected data to assess the structural safety of the tower.

Haizhu district as it develops will take Canton Tower as the core and its south plaza as the focus, and organically integrate with the surrounding cultural and business facilities to emerge as a special tourist destination with integrated cultural, tourism and business elements. It is expected that the south square of Canton Tower will be completed and accepted in 2023 and will open in the first quarter of 2024, adding about 57,000 square meters of commercial space to the tower's shopping area.
