The 2022 China Employer of the Year Awards Ceremony, jointly organized by the Center for Social Development Research of Peking University and Wisdom Associates, was held online on Dec 23, and Haizhu district was awarded the title of "Talent Attracting City (region) of the Year" for the fourth consecutive year.

The annual list of best districts in China for attracting talent is drawn up mainly by examining the performance of the declared cities in terms of talent attraction, talent retention, talent vitality and employment stabilization and promotion. The list is formed after a comprehensive evaluation by the Best Employer Judging Committee.

Haizhu district plans to become a world-class digital economy demonstration area that insists on facing the frontier of the world digital economy and on playing a role as the main battlefield of the economy, where it will gather strategic talents, first-class scientific and technological talents, and innovation teams in the field of the digital economy. Haizhu will go on to take advantage of the rapid gathering of digital economy talents.

The district promotes the upgrading of the Pazhou laboratory into a national laboratory, is home to academician Chen Junlong, Professor Xiao Mingzheng and other leaders in the field of digital economy, and deploys human resources to promote industrial clustering in artificial intelligence mathematics and science, core algorithms, common technology, intelligent medical activities, intelligent manufacturing and other areas. This commitment has led to a number of key projects and the introduction of hundreds of scientific researchers.

Haizhu guided the establishment of the Pazhou artificial intelligence and digital economy industry talent federation to build an industry exchange platform. Haizhu integrates 28 units, such as Sun Yat-sen University and the Seven Institute of Electronics to promote the integration of scientific research, industrial innovation and transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It also strengthens cooperation with eight institutions of higher learning and 19 research institutes, including Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Wuhan University, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, and the University of Macao.
