The Guangzhou bureau of industry and information technology recently announced the list of the first Guangzhou industrial heritage sites to be recognized, and four places in Haizhu district were selected.

The four places are the Chen Liji Chinese Medicine Cultural Park, the former site of the Pearl River Brewery, the former site of the Guangzhou Textile Machinery Factory, and the former site of the Guangzhou Battery Factory.

The Chen Liji Chinese Medicine Culture Park is one of the oldest proprietary Chinese medicine manufacturing enterprises in China and one of the first Chinese ancient brand enterprises.

The Chen Liji Chinese Medicine Museum in the park is the first Chinese medicine industry museum in the Lingnan area (Guangdong and the nearby provinces in southeastern China). With traditional Chinese medicine production processes as its main display content, it shows the history of Chinese medicine, including traditional products and packaging. It also exhibits celebrity paintings and the calligraphy of Chen Liji.

In 1985, the Pearl River Brewery was put into operation. It was the first brewery in China to introduce a full set of foreign equipment and production technology. In 2010, it began construction to transform the freight terminal on the Pearl River into the Pearl River Pati Beer Culture and Creative Art District Zone.

The former site of the Guangzhou Textile Machinery Factory contains six buildings including an assembly workshop and wooden mold workshop. The buildings were built from 1950 to 1970, and all of them are core process workshops. They continue to show the characteristics of the textile machinery industry and the development history of the Guangzhou Textile Machinery Factory.

The predecessor of the Guangzhou Battery Factory, the Xinghua Battery Factory, was founded in 1928 and was one of the earliest battery factories in China. In August 1968, with Xinghua Battery Factory as the core, 49 battery factories of various sizes in Guangzhou were combined and the Guangzhou Battery Factory was established. In 2020, the site of the Guangzhou Battery Factory was transformed into the T.I.T Cultural Creative Zone, with a total land area of 45,000 square meters.
