During the recent COVID-19 outbreak, Haizhu volunteers tried their best to meet residents' daily needs.

On Nov 26, Haizhu volunteers helped a pregnant woman surnamed Huang move to a centralized hotel where she was not only accompanied by her husband, but also received comprehensive medical, dietary and psychological care.

Huang said that she is due to give birth in January next year. After she put forward the transfer request, she soon received a reply from a staff worker, who told her to relax and pick up some simple daily necessities at home after eating something.

The Kanglu area in Haizhu set up a maternity medical protection team, chose a centrally located hotel, and gathered a medical team composed of obstetrics and gynecology medical staff and a hotel work team, to add to the security team already stationed.

There are no elevators in the Lujiang area in Haizhu, and volunteers have a hard time delivering food to residents. Volunteers in Haizhu installed pulleys on the top floors of buildings in the district to facilitate those deliveries.

Delivery of food to an entire building, which normally takes four hours, can now be completed in just over an hour, greatly improving efficiency and saving the volunteers' time and energy to focus on other needs of the people.
