Haizhu recently implemented measures to provide barrier-free access to nucleic acid testing to benefit disabled people.

For example, property management staff have been assisting a 70-year-old woman surnamed Lai, who lives alone and has had difficulty walking in recent years due to suffering from myelitis for 30 years. She lives in a building with six steps outside the main door, which makes it difficult to rebuild to provide barrier-free access, so she purchased a portable barrier-free aluminum ramp on her own. However, she seldom goes downstairs as it takes at least two people to set the ramp up for use.

Every day during the recent COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, she would call the housekeeper when she was ready to go downstairs to do her nucleic acid test. The housekeeper notified the security team that was on duty at the entrance to the neighborhood and security guards would take the accessible ramp stored at the security booth and lay it down at the steps. They would then put it away after the housekeeper helped her off the ramp. After the housekeeper finished her nucleic acid test with her, the security guards would again set up the ramp and push her up to her apartment.

"Thanks to their help, I was able to do the nucleic acid test faster and didn't have to delay others' work for too long. I thank the property staff members who help me with this process," Lai said.
