As part of its COVID-19 prevention and control efforts, Guangzhou's Haizhu district has adopted a "one area, one plan, one grid, one strategy" plan to scientifically assess the risk level of each grid, while transferring quickly people who have been potentially exposed to COVID-19, with 95,300 people transferred to date.
Haizhu district has also prioritized providing mental health services to the public, forming a special psychological counseling team consisting of psychological counselors from community health service centers, hospital experts, and 18 psychological counselor volunteers, which have been stationed in key control areas and quarantine hotels to assist people in need.
To date, 1,122 people have been served, including 265 people from special groups, such as pregnant women and children. At the same time, 18 streets in Haizhu district have set up mental health hotlines, which are being serviced by 420 social workers. Available 24 hours a day, the hotlines have provided effective mental health treatment, emotional guidance, and assistance to nearly 6,000 people.
