Ma Lishi is the owner of a restaurant in Haizhu who has been helping people in need during the current COVID-19 prevention and control period by distributing free lunch boxes to people in need, as well as by collecting people's requests and sending them back to the relevant departments.

Three years ago, she opened a restaurant on Nanzhou Street in Haizhu. On Oct 30, the area was designated as a temporary control area.

On Nov 3, a press conference on the epidemic prevention and control measures in Guangzhou disclosed that the high fluctuation in the number of infected people in Haizhu was related to its dense population of the urban village. On Nov 4, Ma started to distribute free lunch boxes to Hubei villagers who were encountering difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She also opened a channel for villagers to pass on information regarding issues they were facing due to the district's COVID-19 prevention and control measures that could be passed on to relevant departments.

As of Nov 12, she has collected and delivered 119 livelihood requests, helping at least 100 families solve their difficulties. These livelihood requests are mostly concentrated in the communities on Nanzhou Street, Jianghai Street, and Huazhou Street.
