A recycled resource wall on Binjiang Street in Guangzhou's Haizhu district has been attracting the attention of many people recently due to its unique design.
Most of the wall is made of stone, metal, brick, plastic, wood, and other materials sorted and recycled from the garbage, which are used to promote garbage classification efforts.
This wall is about two meters high and has a total length of more than 10 meters. Wire mesh and metal bars are used as the wall’s frame structure, while the middle is filled with cobblestones and cement, appearing like an artistic building from a distance. It is the highlight of Binjiang Street’s garbage classification characteristic demonstration line.
Li Zhihong, the designer of this special line, director of the Eco-Products Research and Development Center of Guangdong Light Industry Vocational College, as well as secretary-general of the Guangzhou Urban Minerals Association, noted that the materials used in the wall, such as the stone, metal, bricks, plastic, and wood, were all sorted and recycled from local garbage.
To further bolster support for the garbage collection and transportation stations in the district, Binjiang Street has created this garbage classification characteristic demonstration line to solve issues related to environmental health, sterilization, air odor elimination, and other issues concerning the public regarding these stations.
