Haizhu's cultural industry makes major strides

During this year's China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), which was held from Sept 2 to 5, Haizhu-based animation company WinSing showcased the strength of Guangdong comic companies and digital animation, as well as the development that Haizhu's cultural industry has made in recent years.

In July, Haizhu formulated measures to develop the game industry, and gave up to 1 million yuan ($144,000) in incentives for R&D innovation, carrier investment, and settlement in Haizhu. In addition, qualified enterprises were provided policy support spanning talent introduction and rental subsidies.

On Aug 23, the Haizhu digital cultural and creative industry development promotion and exchange activities attracted nearly 100 game companies in the province to participate in them. At the same time, a creative culture advisory group was established, with nine industry pioneers, experts, and scholars hired from digital cultural and creative, creative design, animation games, professional associations, as well as other fields.

In the first half of 2022, digital cultural and creative enterprises in the Pazhou artificial intelligence and digital economy pilot zone achieved 3.55 billion yuan in revenue, a year-on-year increase of 50.4 percent, generating 150 million yuan in tax revenue, a year-on-year increase of 83.3 percent. Haizhu district has more than 10,000 cultural enterprises of various types, more than 500 cultural enterprises above designated size, and 36 cultural industry parks.
