Chen is 14 years old and is studying at Guangzhou Haizhu Foreign Language Experimental Middle School. He learned how to do Klotski puzzles blindfolded by himself in 2021. After learning that a Malaysian enthusiast had broken the world record of "the fastest time to solve a 4*5 Klotski puzzle blindfolded," which was previously held by a Chinese person, with a time of 6.9 seconds, Chen was determined to break the world record for this.
