Nanhua West Street is the earliest developed area in Haizhu district and is rich in traditional Lingnan culture, which refers to the local historic culture of Guangdong and the nearby provinces in southeastern China. It was founded in 1776 and has a history of 245 years.

The arcaded streets here can be mainly found on Nanhua West Road, Tongfu West Road, and the northern section of Hongde Road, among which Tongfu West Road is located in the historical and cultural area of Hongde Lane.

Hongde Road is a relatively short one of the three old arcaded streets. It was built in 1928. After more than 90 years of wind and rain, its arcades are still well preserved.

On Hongde Road, Gengtiangong Herbal Tea is an herbal tea stall that opened in 1934. It has not changed its address for many years. Its herbal tea is not made into granules or concentrated, but is brewed day after day with a slow fire. It has become a part of the daily life of the stall’s neighbors.

Opposite Nanhua West Street, Qizha South Street is a traditional residential area that is over 200 years old. It is not only home to red brick bungalows built by returned overseas Chinese in the late 1920s, but also blue brick houses that stand next to each other.
