The Guangdong Provincial Forestry Bureau is holding the third Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Nature Observation Competition from July 9 to Aug 31, with Haizhu calling on people to record the beautiful Haizhu wetland and make submissions to the competition.

The theme of this competition is the ecological beauty of wetlands. Participants are encouraged to explore the natural mysteries of wetlands and present the ecological beauty of wetlands in the form of nature notes or nature short videos.

Nature notes refer to recordings of perceived natural objects through drawings and text to observe and understand nature. These can include observation diaries and comparisons of similar species.

Nature short videos are video recordings of nature scenes, such as the observation of local nature characteristics, the growth cycle of plants, and the hatching process of birds.

Known as "the green heart" of Guangzhou, Haizhu Wetland is a delta city lake and river wetland with a river network that crisscrosses the region. It boasts rich wetland resources, including urban lake wetlands, river gully wetlands, gully wetlands, and gully-semi-natural fruit forest mosaic composite wetlands. Due to its good ecological environment, it is home to many wild animals, insects, and birds.

For the competition, the Nature notes youth group and adult group are offering three first-place prizes of 1,000 yuan ($147.31), seven second-place prizes of 500 yuan, and 15 third-place prizes of 200 yuan. The natural short video group is offering 30 first place prizes of 200 yuan. Prize winners will be announced on Sept 8, while an awards ceremony and works exhibition will be held in late-September.
