The People's Government of Guangdong Province issued the list of Guangdong province key cultural relics protection units, of which three places in Haizhu, namely Chigang Tower, the South Stone Prison Site, and the Site of First National Labor Congress, were included.

Historically, Chigang Tower was a required stop for foreign businesspeople entering Guangzhou, as people knew they have arrived in the city when they saw the Chigang Tower.

The South Stone Prison Site used to be the largest prison in the province during the Republic of China period (1912-49). It signifies the revolutionary struggle of CPC members in their pursuit of freedom and liberation.

The Site of First National Labor Congress was built in the 1920s and consists of two buildings in the north and south. The Western-style concrete main building in the north was the office of the Guangdong Machinery Union, while the auditorium with a brick and wood structure in the south was the site of the First National Labor Conference.
