Haizhu's GDP increased from 98.13 billion yuan ($14.5 billion) in 2012 to 240.52 billion yuan in 2021, with an average annual growth rate of 7.5 percent.

The total industrial output value of Haizhu increased from 27.12 billion yuan in 2012 to 71 billion yuan in 2021, with an average annual growth rate of 17.9 percent, while the added value of the district's modern service industry increased from 87.46 billion yuan in 2018 to 139 billion yuan in 2021, ranking third in Guangzhou.

There are 33,000 enterprises in the Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Pilot Zone, of which 1,545 are industrial enterprises above designated size, which refers to companies with an annual turnover of over 20 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.2 percent and 9.5 percent respectively. In 2021 and the first half of 2022, the district's main business income was 366.85 billion yuan and 189.09 billion yuan, respectively, an increase of 23 percent and 18.6 percent.
