Haizhu's GDP reached 116.78 billion yuan ($17.30 billion) in the first half of the year, up 3.1 percent year-on-year.

In terms of its GDP, the added value of the district's primary industry was 54 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 30.8 percent, the added value of its secondary industry was 24.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.8 percent, while the added value of the tertiary industry was 92.23 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.8 percent.                                                                                                 

During this period, Haizhu's wholesale commodity sales increased by 22 percent, ranking second in Guangzhou. The operating income of its internet and related service industries above designated size increased by 15.8 percent, ranking second in Guangzhou. The operating income of its scientific research and technical services industries above designated size increased by 13.5 percent, ranking fourth in Guangzhou.

The added value of industries below designated size increased by 14 percent, ranking first in Guangzhou. Its investment in fixed assets increased by 17.1 percent, ranking second in Guangzhou, while its investment in construction and installation projects increased by 17.1 percent, ranking second in Guangzhou.

From January to May, the operating income of its new information technology service industry above designated size increased by 11.4 percent, while the 540 industrial enterprises above designated size in the core industries of the digital economy achieved an operating income of 38 billion yuan, playing a leading role in digital economy development.

The total number of industrial enterprises above designated size in Haizhu has continued to grow. In the first half of the year, there were 4,027 industrial enterprises above designated size, an increase of 2.7 percent, with an average of 119 industrial enterprises above designated size added per month.

The industrial enterprises above designated size in the district achieved an operating income of 350.25 billion yuan, an increase of 12.8 percent, while its value-added taxes payable totaled 3.95 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3 percent. In addition, these enterprises had 346,100 employees, an increase of 0.5 percent.

In the first half of this year, Haizhu added 505 industrial enterprises above designated size, achieving 13.36 billion yuan in major economic indicators, an increase of 1.6 times.

The sales of new energy vehicles in Haizhu district increased by 1.4 times, accounting for 12.2 percent of the total vehicle sales, an increase of 7.4 percentage points from the same period last year. In addition, the sales of household appliances and electronic products in the district increased by 81.6 percent.
