The Haizhu Lijiao Eco-City planning conference was held on July 2 by the Pearl River in Guangzhou, showcasing the Lijiao village reconstruction project.
Lijiao Eco-City is a key component of the Haizhu government's focus on building the "one zone-one valley-one circle" model, in which the one zone refers to Pazhou Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy Experimental Zone, the one valley refers to Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) International Innovation Valley, and the one circle refers to Haizhu's cultural, business, and tourism integration circle.
The project's contractor, Zhuguang Group, invested 10 million yuan ($15 million), as well as invited famous designers from the China Urban Planning and Design Institute and the China Academy of Building Research to design the eco-city together.
Wang Shifu, deputy dean of the Design and Research Institute of South China University of Technology, said that the overall planning of the project follows a "landscape green space + public buildings + landmark construction" model.
The project spans 4.7 million square meters, which is equivalent to 2/3rds of the area of Pearl River New City. It boasts rich surrounding ecological resources like Haizhu Lake Park and Haizhu Wetland Park, with a 7.1-kilometer-long river coastline. In addition, there is also a unique ancient Lijiao village in the area.
The project plans to include more than 100 public service facilities, covering education, medical care, health care, culture, transportation, and sports.
