In recent years, Haizhu has prioritized the protection of ancient buildings and has designated measures to collect information about them.

There are 26 historical and cultural blocks in Guangzhou, of which Haizhu district has three historical and cultural blocks, two traditional Chinese villages, 97 historical buildings, as well as 81 traditional buildings.

During the comprehensive investigation of historic buildings in Haizhu, it was found that some of the protection elements of seven historical buildings had been artificially altered. At present, six of them have been rectified and one is in the process of rectification.

Haizhu produced a manual for the protection and inheritance of historical and cultural resources, which detailed the conditions and protection requirements for three historical and cultural blocks, two traditional villages, 97 historical buildings, as well as 81 traditional buildings.
