The quality improvement project of Haizhu Wetland was completed recently, covering a design scope of 1.1 million square meters and a renovated area of 450,000 sq m.
The project was framed around the design concept of building a harmonious environment between humans and nature. With the goal of ecological development, it aims to create a high-quality wetland that is integrated with the city.
The project was divided into three areas, including Haizhu Lake, Haizhu Wetland Phase I, and Haizhu Wetland Phase II.
In terms of vegetation, the Haizhu Wetland utilizes its existing ancient trees, big trees, and fruit forests as the base to protect the original banana forests, longan trees, and other excellent fruit trees.
At the same time, aging and poor growing fruit trees were dredged and transformed, maintaining the advantages of fruit trees and creating an orchard wetland landscape with rich Lingnan (Guangdong and the nearby provinces in southeastern China) characteristics.
In water quality, Haizhu Wetland combined with the current water system, dredging channel to achieve internal and external water circulation, as well as forming an ecological water purification system to improve wetland water quality.
In ecological environment, soil was replaced and different plants were configured, with evergreen plants and flowering plants planted in layers.
Haizhu Lake is the ecological focus of the city's central axis and has the largest water area in Haizhu Wetland. The Haizhu Wetland Phase I is themed around flowers, while the Haizhu Wetland Phase II is themed around birds, trees, and shrubs.
